Texas Child Custody Law: Conservatorship, Possession and Access
In Texas, child custody is called "conservatorship." The parent who has physical or primary custody of the child (the child lives with him or her) is called the "managing conservator." The other parent is a "possessory conservator." When parents share the care of their children (joint custody), they are called "joint conservators."
