Going through a divorce is already difficult, but if you're faced with having to balance child custody with a new relationship, it might be something your ex or the courts will consider. In this child custody case, Simon Cowell's girlfriend has allegedly agreed to keep her child, a seven-year-old boy, away from Cowell as part of a custody agreement.
The Nov. 14 report states that Lauren Silverman's husband filed for divorce in July 2013 after finding out that the famous socialite was carrying Cowell's child. The two worked together and allegedly were able to settle the divorce in August with a settlement, and the woman allegedly received only $2 million due to a prenuptial agreement.
The little boy in the middle of this divorce has been placed in joint custody, according to their agreement, but there are stipulations. While the boy's mother will allegedly receive $3,000 a month for child support, the boy must not come into contact with Cowell until January of 2015, according to the news, and if he does, there will be a $50,000 penalty. The report also states that the boy allegedly may not call anyone except his mom or dad his mother or father. Additionally, the boy's father has allegedly agreed not to talk badly about Cowell or to allow the boy to hear negative comments as part of the arrangement.
This custody case may strike you as unusual, but when there is more than one lover involved, this kind of result can happen. It may not seem reasonable to ask that the child isn't allowed to see Cowell until 2015, but that was a decision made by the parents for their own reasons. If you're going through a divorce or split, you may want to look into your options for a settlement or agreement, too, especially if you want to avoid court.
