Should foster home keep young Texas girl from her grandparents?

A 5-year-old girl in Texas went through an incredibly traumatic ordeal when both of her parents were shot and killed while standing outside of a nearby church. The gunmen escaped after the crime was committed. The young girl was not harmed, but she was a witness to the crime. The mental side of this had to be very difficult for her to deal with, but officials now say that the child could face other challenges as well. Since the gunmen were not caught, one of the only witnesses to the crime is the young girl. She could potentially put them behind bars, so authorities are worried that they will come after her.

Divorcing dads: Avoid these common mistakes

There's an old song that belts out how "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," and that is certainly the case when it comes to an acrimonious and contentious divorce. When children are involved, the feelings of resentment, anger and even grief can be consuming. For fathers, this can lead to some common mistakes, and those mistakes can affect many things during and after the divorce decree is signed. Here are some of those common mistakes and how to avoid them.

Former Texas postal worker says she will divorce Terrell Owens

Falling in love with someone and deciding to get married means you are making a lifetime pledge to stay with that person. For some people, marriage just isn't what they thought it would be, so they file for divorce. For Terrell Owens' wife, thinking that he had ulterior motives for the marriage led her to want to file for divorce after only two weeks.

Interference with child custody likely treated as civil matter

Child custody agreements are in place to help keep the children's best interests protected. There are some instances in which the orders of the court aren't followed as they should be. In some cases, the child custody agreements are altered by the parents as part of a mutual agreement. In other cases, one parent alters the child custody agreement on his or her own, without the consent of the other parent. In that case, the parent who didn't agree to the changes may call the police department to help get the child custody agreement enforced. A new report reveals that an unwritten Texas law enforcement policy treats these types of complaints as civil matters.
