Man who remarried before divorce finalized faces charges

Finding love again after you have gone through a divorce isn't always easy. When you do find love again, you might decide that it is time for you to get married again. For one man, the decision to get married again has landed him in trouble with the law.

The problem with the 36-year-old man's marriage is that the man was still married to his first wife when he married his new wife, according to documents filed with the felony bigamy charge against the man. The man, who claims that he thought he was properly divorced when he married his second wife, is set to go to court on March 27, 2014 for the first hearing regarding these charges.

The man married his second wife in November of last year, but his divorce from his first wife wasn't finalized until Feb. 14 of this year. His first wife allegedly showed a detective an email in which she told the man that she expected their divorce to be finalized during the second week in February. That email was sent on Jan. 10. The man responded by telling his first wife that he wasn't going to marry the other woman. On Jan. 29, the man allegedly asked his first wife when the divorce would be final, and she replied with the same time frame noted in her first email.

Making sure that a divorce has been properly executed is vital to ensure that you won't later have to face charges of bigamy. If you are going through a divorce, seeking the advice of an experienced Texas family law professional might help you to discover ways to make sure that your divorce is properly executed so that you can be protected from facing a situation similar to the one this man faced.
