Texas residents have probably heard about the nasty divorce case involving a wealthy Texas banker. In the divorce settlement, the woman received a $1.2 million payout. That was in 2011.
The judge over the case has ordered the children to be placed with their father for care. It is said that the man used a post-divorce abortion the women had as fuel for his child custody petition. According to reports, the judge's decision about custody of the children was based on the woman lying about taking prescription medications while neglecting the 4-year-old child and 6-year-old child. She was taking Xanax, Ativan, Valium and Klonopin.
The woman is now trying to fight to get custody of the kids from him. She is reportedly going through rehab for a pill addiction. She also reportedly goes to Texas on the weekends to see the two children.
The woman has been clean for two years, according to her lawyer. She now wants to appeal the court's decision regarding custody. Her lawyers say that she needs more money in order to appeal the court's decision. They say that employment prospects for the woman are bleak or non-existent. She is asking for $150,000 for her legal fees, as well as $20,000 for printing costs.
Going through any divorce isn't easy. When the divorce involves young children, trying to protect the interest of the children is paramount. Because of the woman's actions, the judge awarded custody to their father. It is important for anyone going through a divorce to realize how their actions might affect the outcome of the case.
