Why do amicable divorces seem so difficult?

When you got married, you probably envisioned a life that was all ups with just a few minor downs. While it sometimes works out that way, the reality is that marriages are much like a roller coaster. For some people, that roller coaster is too much to deal with and they decide they need to get off of it for good. It is then that they file for a divorce. Our Texas readers might enjoy learning how to cope with the harsh realities of divorce.

My divorce is amicable, so why is it so painful?

Even when a couple decides together that divorce is the best option, things can still be very stressful during the divorce. Even when the divorce is amicable, it is still a difficult situation to go through. Divorce is somewhat like saying goodbye to a loved one. You realize that the life you envisioned isn't reality. You have to give up on that dream, at least for now.

I know divorce is hard, but why does it make me uneasy?

Divorce is a time of transition. It is a time in which you might feel like you need to defend yourself or protect yourself. You might feel like you need to know as much as you can about the process. While all of this is certainly normal, it can make you feel very uneasy.

How can I make it easier?

The truth is that there is going to be some difficulty in the divorce process. In order to make it as easy as possible, take care of yourself. If you have children, focus on the children. Make happy memories with them. Additionally, make sure you know your rights and understand how the divorce will affect you.
