Don't get taken for the assets you worked hard to amass

Deciding to end a marriage is a very serious decision. For most people who file for divorce, a lot of thought has gone into making the choice. For a person who is going to have a lot of assets to divide during the divorce, there is some planning that should be done before and after the divorce is filed.

Texas is a community property state. What does this mean for you? This means that all property that was amassed during the course of your marriage is community property that will be divided between you and your ex. We don't want you to think that this means you will have to lose half of what you have. Instead, the law takes into account what is fair and what is just.

As we work on your case, we will look into the value of the assets you hold. We will also try to work with your ex's side of the case to determine if we can come up with a property division settlement that gives you at least some control over how things are divided.

In the case of a high-asset divorce, there are some considerations that aren't present in other cases. Business holdings, investments and similar assets might require valuation prior to the property division. In some cases, asset tracing might be necessary.

We can help you to learn about what you will need to do to learn the true value of the assets that are part of the divorce. We can also help you to determine if any assets would be considered individual property that wouldn't be subjected to the property division process.
